Pick at least one of the Music Magazine sites and analyse how it works.

Features to identify and comment on:

  • layout
  • colours
  • images
  • design
  • fonts
  • pages
  • links
  • banners
  • any other features which you notice
Think about:
  • how does the institution (the publisher) make money?
  • who is the audience and what tells you this?
  • how you are intended to 'use' or 'interact with' the site?
  • how would you apply audience theories to the site?
Post your analysis on your own blog OR write it up in your book.

  • How do they find the music they like?
  • How do they share that music with their friends?

  4. What kind or kinds of music does it promote?
  5. Is it free or subscription?
  6. Does it have advertising?
  7. How do you interact with the site?
  8. Does the site appeal to you?

Choose two of the sites and deepen your research.
  1. How do the sites use Audience Theories to succeed?
  2. How do they use design elements on the site? Images, colour, fonts etc.
  3. How do they use language, slogans, reviews, information?

CW State of Play

Here is the chart with who has completed what so far. There have already been some great improvements today with lots of students going 'green' across the board. But as you can see there are still some orange and pink areas which need to be converted.

It is therefore vital to finish any outstanding work and bring it tomorrow to the extra curricula class.
